Today I want to talk about how can sleep reduce stress. Do you want to know how? I think we all understand that sleep is very important for our wellbeing but sometimes is hard to fall asleep after a stressful day. Sleep reduces your stress, and you feel much better in the morning, right?
Why sometimes you avoid sleep?
Sometimes some of you neglect the obvious: sleep. In this matter, I am not much different from you. For example, of course, I need to write my next article at the middle of the night or read a book. Too often seems that only nights are good for that. 🙂
Oh, don’t forget, that some years ago I also needed to finish my master thesis in the night. Surely, it is very stressful if you know that you need to be ready in the morning and show everyone your masterpiece – thesis, project or just some tasks.

You just need to plan everything better. Of course, too often it doesn’t happen. But you need to try like I am doing.

Who doesn’t want a good night sleep and wake up refreshed and relaxed, ready to face a new and beautiful day?
Sleep regenerates your energy level. Good night sleep is necessary if you want to wake up calmer and full of energy because sleep regenerates your energy level. Sleep helps you to manage stress more effectively.
Sometimes you are too worried, stressed and sleep doesn’t come at all. You just can’t fall asleep. Maybe some tips can help you.
How to sleep better?
1. Eat a healthy diet. You should avoid caffeinated drinks and alcohol if you want to get quality sleep. Don’t eat much prior to bedtime and avoid sugar.
2. Clear your thoughts. Before going to sleep, you need to relax and let go. Stop worrying and take deep breaths. I usually meditate or use visualization. But some years ago before sleeping, I thought about my day, about my experiences and I concentrated on the great ones. I fulfilled myself with gratitude and calmed down.
3. Take a warm shower or a bath
4. Exercise is a great way to burn energy and you can get better sleep. Don’t exercise just before sleep.
5. Read before sleeping. Remember that reading alone can relieve stress and make your life more enjoyable.

Yeah I agree, sleep is important. For me it is very important to stop working around an hour before I go to sleep. Doing this my brain can shut off and I avoid constantly thinking about work when trying to sleep…

Sleep is one of the most important parts of my day, but sadly not for many people out there. I love getting my 7-8 hours of sleep because I just feel better in the morning when I do. That’s why I consider myself a morning person. Sadly this is not the case, and many people still don’t get enough sleep, many of those people are students. Knowing this is very dissatisfying for me because often they are stressing over an exam but don’t realize sleep is just as important as studying. Anyways great post thank you for sharing.
I also try to sleep for 7-8 hours, but sometimes I still don’t get enough sleep. When I was a student, I slept long enough to be alert and ready to learn new things. But sometimes it wasn’t possible. I needed to learn for exams, make presentations, write my thesis etc. Even with my great planning, it wasn’t easy. Many students don’t even try. I know that sleep is very important and help to reduce stress. I absolutely agree that sleeping is as important as studying if not more.
I completely agree with you about sleep. I am an early bird and as a result I go to bed early too. Sometimes, though I wake up too early. My body feels like it’s refreshed, but it’s way to early to get up and start my day. I like your idea of meditation, that works for relaxing and getting back to sleep too! Do you ever listen to guided meditations?

It is for some years now that I wake up at 3 a.m. in the morning, wide awake as if I don’t need anymore sleep. I normally doze off at I think around 5 a.m. an then in the morning when I need to get up at 6, I feel as if I was awake all night. ..terrible. Nowadays I’m pulling out the laptop at 3 a.m. and keep my mind busy until 4. then I easily fall asleep again.

Sleeping is one of my favourite activities, and I’m one of the lucky ones who can fall asleep just about anywhere. I find all your suggestions work for me, especially clearing my mind (I like to write out my thoughts if something is bothering me), having a nice long soak in a hot bubble bath and reading…reading a book in bed always seems to put me to sleep! Thanks for sharing, it’s easy to forget how important sleep can be for our mental health.
