What Is The Best Vitamin D Supplement? – Eat The Sun

What Is The Best Vitamin D Supplement

Hi, everyone! What an amazing sunny day! Or maybe it’s raining for you. Either way, today I will talk about the vitamin that we can absorb from our beautiful star.

What am I talking about? Do you know? Of course, you know. If you don’t have any idea then maybe you just forgot about it. Sometimes it’s hard to remember everything in this life that can be stressful and beautiful at the same time.

I hope your life has more beauty than stress, and in this article, you can read about Vitamin D that can help you with stress relief.

I know why you are here – to read about what is the best vitamin D supplement and decide which one to use it.

Why Am I Talking About Vitamin D?

Vitamin D is essential for your health. If you lack this vitamin, you can be more stressful and anxious than usual. You can even get depressed. Who wants that? Do you?

This article explores the different types of Vitamin D supplements available. What can be the best Vitamin D supplement for you, my dear reader? Are you ready to take a journey to the world of Vitamin D? Take your shoes and a smile. I will be your guide.

Vitamin D and Stress

What Is The Best Vitamin D SupplementMany people understand that Vitamin D helps to maintain our teeth, bones and our immune system. Who knows that this vitamin plays an essential role in helping to relieve stress

The stress hormone cortisol restricts Vitamin D receptor and blocks the absorption. That stops production of Vitamin D from the sun because cortisol uses cholesterol that is needed to produce the vitamin.

Vitamin D supplementation helps you cope with stress, and it could also help to deal with the causes of your stress.

Where Can You Get Vitamin D?

What Is The Best Vitamin D Supplement

  • Sunlight: Of course, the greatest source of Vitamin D3 is the Sun. But remember, my dear reader, that if you put a sunscreen on your body, you can’t get Vitamin D.
  • Mushrooms
  • Cod liver oil
  • Salmon

Plants foods consist Vitamin D2. If you want to get Vitamin D3, you should eat the foods from the animal kingdom or absorb it from the sun. Don’t need to worry if you are vegetarian or vegan because your body can convert both into the “active” type when exposed to UV light from the sun.

Why Do You Need To Take Vitamin D3 Supplement?

What Is The Best Vitamin D SupplementIf you think that you can absorb enough Vitamin D from the sun or food you are wrong. Okay. Okay… Maybe some of you can get enough but many people can’t.

Studies show that the most Americans are lacking Vitamin D and The European population has Vitamin D deficiency. What do you think about people in the sunnier countries? Are they Vitamin D deficient? In fact, yes. For example, the United Arab Emirates is a place with plenty of sun, but there is a high number of people who have Vitamin D deficiency.

Did you know that about 70 % of Indians are Vitamin D deficient? Some studies showed that despite exposure to the sun for 30 minutes every day during winter and summer, the level of Vitamin D was insufficient. It wasn’t enough for sound bone health.

Many people are insufficient in Vitamin D, and that is why it’s important to use Vitamin D supplements. Do you still think otherwise?

Now you understand why you need to take a supplement.  Below you can read about four Vitamin D supplements that I chose from Amazon and wrote reviews about them.

What Is The Best Vitamin D Supplement?

What Is The Best Vitamin D SupplementIn my opinion, the best Vitamin D supplement is the first one – Garden of Life mykind Organics Vegan D3 Spray. I take it, and I don’t have any problems with this Vitamin D supplement.  It is easy to take and carry if you are traveling.

I love that this Vitamin D supplement is organic, non-GMO, without sweeteners and preservatives. I even think I feel better than before because right now I am less stressed and more positive. Of course, it isn’t only because I take Vitamin D3 supplements.

Remember, you only can be sure that the supplement is working if you take a blood test. I also need to check that.

After reading many reviews about these supplements on Amazon and other sites, I understood that the same Vitamin D supplement helped many people, but for some people, it doesn’t work. In fact, I think that I always knew that. We all are unique.

What Is the Best Vitamin D Supplement

It seems not all persons can absorb Vitamin D supplements (This person talked about Vitamin D-3, 2000 IU by Doctor’s Best). Other people wrote about similar experiences with different supplements.

I would avoid supplements that consist of Dicalcium Phosphate and Magnesium Stearate because they can cause side effects. It isn’t scientifically proven, but it’s better safe than sorry.

What is the best Vitamin D supplement for you? I think it depends on you. Are you vegetarian or vegan? Do you have an allergy or something? Do you have special needs or wishes? Each person would make a different choice. What is yours?

  1. Hi Linda! Great article on Vitamin D- I come visit your page from time to time 🙂

I am lucky enough to live in a very sunny place so I get a lot of vitamin D naturally- also I have an infrared sauna that has a white chromotherapy light that is similar to the sun… but I used to take the supplements and they are super beneficial for a person’s health so this is such a great post to raise that awareness!

    • Linda Mo

Hi, Andrea! Thanks! It makes me happy.
You are lucky. I live in the North Europe, and we lack the sun. We all need the Vitamin D supplement if we want to be happy, healthy and less stressed. Interesting. What kind of Vitamin D supplements did you use?

  2. Very nicely put Linda. Vitamin D is a very important component to our daily lives. I am always seeking foods first, then reaching out for supplements. I’ve not thought about using the spray type of supplement. Does the “mykind” leave an unpleasant after taste? Thanks so much for your review on vitamin D.

    • Linda Mo

Thanks, Paula! In my opinion, no. In fact, I like the taste. 🙂
I live in a place where isn’t a lot of sunny days especially in winter, so I need to think about Vitamin D supplement. It’s a North Europe

  3. Hello Linda =)

I live in place (East coast of England) where it does get quite a lot of sun in the summer and I’m always walking around in it! In the winter it’s a completely different story and so taking vitamin D tablets is a must.

Thank you for reminding me about the benefits of this vitamin and what you the best supplement is.

    Best wishes,
    Lawrence

  4. Hi Linda,
You have a great and very detailed article. I have to take vitamin D because I am deficient due to my epilepsy. I sometimes forget to take my vitamin and I like your first suggestion because you can mix it with your beverage. That way I can get it ready to take with my meal. Thanks for the info!

    • Linda Mo

Hi, Melissa! Thank you! Yes, I really like The Vitamin D supplement I am taking, and I think it is the best. But for other people, it could be different.

  5. I love my vitamin D. Vitamins are essential not only for physical health but also mental health. Vitamin D receptors have been found in areas of the brain that help regulate and promote serotonin levels which with an adverse affect can promote depression and anxiety. Loved this article. Everyone needs to get a plentiful amount of vitamin D for their health purposes!

Awesome article! I think most people can benefit from knowing that they are probably deficient in Vitamin D. I have been supplementing for many years, with amounts up to 20,000 IU and I have settled back down to 10,000 IU a day. I t has helped me with joint pain as well as depression. In Spring and Summer, I try to get outside more for natural Vitamin D, but you are recommending some great products for when Autumn rolls around.

    • Linda Mo

      Hi, Irma! Thanks!
I think many people don’t know, that they are deficient in Vitamin D. I am also trying to get natural Vitamin D3 by being outside.
Thanks! 🙂 Thank you for visiting!

Hey great post! Vitamin D is super important especially in the winter, a lot of people including myself, suffer from the winter blues. So getting that D3 in can massively boost your mood and reduce the likelihood of depression! I actually have the Nu nutrition soft gels and I take them daily they are really good =)

  9. Hi Linda,

What an informative post. I have no idea that people can get Vit D deficiency even if they are exposed to the sun. Could you share what are the symptoms if we lack Vit D in our bodies? I live in Asia and I get plenty of sun, but how do I judge whether I have enough? That’s what I would like to know, thanks!

    • Linda Mo

Hi, Moon! Thanks! Many people have no idea about it. Of course. It looks like I needed to write about the symptoms in my article.
Some symptoms of Vitamin D deficiency are bone pain, frequent bone fractures, muscle weakness, difficulty thinking clearly and unexplained fatigue.

Thanks for a great post. I can’t tell you how many stories I’ve heard about people having mystery medical dramas that end up being Vitamin D deficiency. I didn’t know there were so many alternatives to getting and absorbing what we need.

    • Linda Mo
